In 2020, Andrew and I made the trek out to Dinosaur National Monument, a place where history and scenery collide in the most unexpected way. This park is famous for its fossil-rich Quarry Exhibit Hall, where massive dinosaur bones are still embedded in the rock — standing there feels like looking through a window into another time.
But Dinosaur is so much more than fossils. Driving through the monument, we were surrounded by sweeping canyons carved by the Green and Yampa Rivers, layered cliffs that glowed in the sun, and quiet stretches of desert landscape that made us feel like we had the place almost to ourselves.
It’s the kind of destination that combines awe-inspiring natural beauty with a sense of deep time. We left feeling connected not just to the land, but also to the story of life that has unfolded here for millions of years.
